Frequently Asked Questions
- Star Filters has over 40 years of experience in manufacturing, design, and validation of filtration systems and cleanrooms for the pharmaceutical, electronics, medical, food, semiconductor, and hospital industries. We hold ISO 9001 quality management certification.
We have built over 120 cleanrooms and supplied filtration systems for thousands of projects in Mexico, Central America, and the United States, offering reliable, certified, and high-performance solutions. - Our cleanrooms, equipment, and filters comply with the main international standards:
- ISO 14644 (ISO 4 to ISO 9 classes)
- GMP / GPP for pharmaceutical industry
- NEBB for certified testing and validation
- ASHRAE for performance and efficiency
- Applicable NOM safety and installation standards
- Filter selection depends on the process, type of contaminant, airflow, and particle size that needs to be controlled.
- HEPA: For terminal filtration in areas requiring a very high level of cleanliness. Typical efficiency at 0.3 µm: ≥ 99.95 – 99.97 % MERV 17 – 19.
- W / Minipleat: Medium efficiency filters for intermediate stages. Typical efficiency at 0.3 µm: 65 – 98% MERV 11 – 15.
- Bag: Secondary filtration to reduce contaminant load. Typical efficiency at 0.3 µm: 50 – 95%, MERV 10 – 14.
- Pleat: Low and medium efficiency prefilters. Typical efficiency at 0.3 µm: 35%, MERV 8.
- Activated carbon: Odor control and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Dust collector: Cylindrical filter. Typical efficiency at 0.3 µm: 95%, MERV 14.
- The time depends on size, complexity, and required certifications, but typically:
- Design and engineering: 2–4 weeks
- Manufacturing and construction: 6–10 weeks
- Installation and commissioning: 2–4 weeks
- NEBB validation: 1–3 days
- Yes. We have HEPA filters, W, bag, pleat, cabinets, air handling units (AHU), and air showers in standard and custom sizes, both for replacement and for new or existing projects.
We can replicate any size of imported or discontinued filters and adapt to already installed HVAC or AHU systems. Contact us for special sizes. - Based on NEBB CPT procedural standards, validation includes:
- Particle counting: Determines ISO classification of the area.
- HEPA filter integrity: Confirms they are leak-free.
- Air balancing and pressure control: Measures airflow and differential pressures.
- Duct hermeticity test: Verifies air system sealing.
-
- Stock available: 3000 m² warehouse for immediate delivery.
- Special sizes: 1-3 weeks depending on complexity and availability.
- AHUs and air shower: 2-6 weeks.
